Season wraps up

The Spooner Rails boys have ended their basketball season. Spooner fell 66-54 at Osceola in the opening round of the WIAA Division 3 Regional on Feb. 27.

OSCEOLA– The 2017-2018 high school basketball season came to a close for the Spooner Rail boys at Osceola on Tuesday, Feb. 27.

In the opening round of the WIAA Regionals, the #12 seeded Rails opened at #5 Osceola. Osceola won the contest 66-54.

Trey Nelson led the Rails with 12 points, 4 rebounds and 1 assist. Mikienen Rinehart added 11 points, 2 rebounds and 2 steals.

Sam Johnson had 7 points, 1 rebound and 1 block. Ryan Lauterbach had 5 points, 1 rebound and 3 steals.

Ben Bray had 5 points and 1 steal. John Nauertz had 4 points and 1 rebound. AJ Buchman had 4 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal.

Colin Madison scored 3 points and had 7 rebounds and 1 assist. Devin Busch scored 2 points and had 1 assist. Cole White scored 1 point and had 2 rebounds.

As a team, the Rails committed 11 turnovers in the game.

Spooner finished the season 8th in the Heart O’ North Conference with a record of 1-13. Overall, the Rails were 3-17 on the season.

Head Coach Tom Clark will be losing five seniors next season.

Graduating seniors for the Rails include Mikienen Rinehart, Ryan Lauterbach, Ben Bray, Colin Madison and Trey Nelson.
