Before I begin, I need to make a clarification from last week’s column. I added some wording after my wife had proofread and made suggestions on how to improve the column. In the fifth paragraph, I had mentioned that I wrote about my allergy to wasp stings and implied that “it was one of the few things I was more allergic to than my wife.” She thought the comment was quite funny because as she read it, she thought I was saying that I am somehow allergic to her, which is not the case. My wife is highly allergic to cats, dogs, pollen and a host of other substances both inside and outside our house. I never meant to imply that I am allergic to her, although we have our days. Now, I continue.
