Stanley C. Breeze

Stanley C. Breeze, 89, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2019, at Wissota Hospice in Chippewa Falls after a brief illness.

He was born on August 11, 1929, in his grandmother’s house in Milaukee to Margaret (Fuerst) and Stanley Breeze. He joined the Marines at 17 on August 8, 1946. He was in the 2nd Marine Division Recoy Company for two years. His mother remarried and moved to Minong to be with his stepfather, John Landsverk, who was also a Marine. He returned to Minong at age 19 to finish his education. He met “Father” John Fradette, principal of Minong High School, who convinced him to take two years instead of one to complete his schooling.

Soon he would meet the love of his life, Millie Fradette, “Father” John’s daughter. They married on November 17, 1951, in White Lake. They moved to Milwaukee and raised two daughters, Chris and Val, then moved to Pewaukee in 1961 to raise another daughter, Kay, and seven foster children.Other places they raised their family were Dousman in 1976, Wascott in 1987, and finally back to Minong in 1997 where they lived happily ever after until Millie’s death on June 10, 2013.

He went to the University of Wisconsin Extension in Waukesha for 2 1/2 years to earn degrees in electronics and management.

He loved hunting and fishing, reading war stories and westerns, watching John Wayne movies, and the Packers and Brewers. His hobbies included stamp and coin collecting, building model air planes and ships, listening to polkas and Spanish music, going to car shows, and especially listening to Millie play classical music on her piano. He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Minong.

Stan is survived by his daughters, Chris (Lenny) Cwikla of Lublin and Kathy Breeze of Minong; his sister Joan Johnson of Minong; half-brother Jack (Carole) Landsverk of Chillicothe, Illinois; grandsons, Jesse (Heather) Campbell of Clayton, North Carolina and Ian (Samantha) Campbell of Eau Claire; great-grandchildren Dawson, Aydin, Asher, Kiptyn, and Kynli, all of Clayton, North Carolina; brother-in-law Jim (Diann) Fradette of Helena, Montana; sister-in-law Mary (Doug) Gibson of Rockford, Illinois; and 10 nephews and three nieces.

He was preceded in death by baby brother, James; his parents; stepfather, John Landsverk; wife, Millie; daughter Valerie Breeze-Bucholz; son-in-law Michael Bucholz; brother- and sister-in-law Larry and Jean Leinen; brother-in-law Marvin Johnson; and nephews Marvie Johnson and Jay Gibson.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 2, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Minong. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service.

Graveside interment with full military honors will be at 3 p.m. at the Wascott Cemetary.
