Ruth E. Bartsch, 75, of Wanamingo passed away on Monday, Oct. 28, 2019, at the Mayo Clinic Hospital-Rochester, St. Mary's Campus in Rochester.
Ruth Ellen Seehusen was born on September 14, 1944, in Waterloo, Iowa, to Jake and Lillie (Dunham) Seehusen. Ruth’s family lived in several communities while she was growing up. Ruth graduated from John Marshall.
On September 17, 1966, she married Douglas Bartsch in Stewartville. Over the years they lived in the Twin Cities, rural Elgin, Atlanta, Georgia, Rochester, and Spooner, and Ruth moved to Wanamingo three years ago.
Ruth was primarily a homemaker, but she did work as a waitress and did wallpapering, along with working for Schmidt Printing and Honeywell Corp. Ruth loved quilting and enjoyed boating and flower gardening. She was a member of New Life Church and the Red Hatters.
Ruth is survived by her son, Tim (Penny) Bartsch of Stewartville; grandchildren, Brooke and Lucas Bartsch of Stewartville; brother, Edward (Mary) Seehusen of Rochester; brother-in-law, Jerry (Jan) Bartsch; and sisters-in-law, Jean Seehusen and Margaret Bartsch.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas; parents; son, Kevin Bartsch; brother, Charlie Seehusen; and brother-in-law, Jim Bartsch.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, Nov. 1, 2019, at 2 p.m. at the New Life Church in Wanamingo with Pastor Pat McBride officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be on Friday, starting at 12:30 p.m. at the church. A luncheon will follow the service at the church.
In accordance with Ruth’s wishes, her family prefers no flowers.
