Bernard Ronald “Ron” Ryan, 84, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2019, at Hayward Area Memorial Hospital.
He was born on May 17, 1935, in Chicago, the son of Bernard Francis and Catherine Alice (Erlacher) Ryan.
He was united in marriage to Edith Therese Fobert on June 18, 1955, in Chicago.
Ron worked for Illinois Bell Telephone Company (later AT&T) for over 38 years. He had enjoyed visits to Northern Wisconsin since the age of 10 and after retirement moved permanently to his cabin on Pokegama Lake near Minong.
“He was a hard worker who took great pride caring for his property and also enjoyed woodworking. Most of all, Ron was a devoted family man and there was nothing he wouldn’t do for his family,” family members said.
He is survived by his children, Debbie (Ken) Boguslawski of Beecher, Illinois, Nancy (Greg) Charlton of Midlothian, Illinois, Kim (Larry) Hogan of Oak Forest, Illinois, Tim (Carol) Ryan of Palos Heights, Illinois, and Bernie (Colleen) Ryan of Oak Forest, Illinois; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; his daughter-in-law Barbara Ryan; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Edith Therese Ryan; and his son Bernard Bruce Ryan.
Services will be announced at a later date.
