MADISON - The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) reminds travelers over the Fourth of July weekend to celebrate safe driving and buckle up, put their phone down, plan ahead and drive carefully through work zones.
To open as many lanes as possible, most road construction will pause during the weekend. In Washburn County, significant road construction projects that may impact Fourth of July weekend travel include southbound U.S. Highway 53 reduced to one lane in each direction in the Trego area. Temporary traffic signals are in place at Highways 53 and 63 and Liesch Road. The work zone speed limits are reduced to 55 mph on Highway 53 and 45 mph on Highway 63.
