MINONG – The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Douglas County EMS, North Ambulance, Minong EMS, the Washburn County Sheriff’s Department, Wisconsin State Patrol and local fire departments held a mock fire training drill in Minong Saturday, Sept. 24.

DNR Area Forestry Leader Matt Blaylock said, “We genuinely try to keep that up every five years.” However, he added, the COVID-19 pandemic pushed it back for a couple of years, so it had been seven since the last internal training. They started back up a month ago with a training in Black River Falls and do it twice a year in Wisconsin, at different locations throughout the state. In the winter, they do classroom trainings as a refresher as well as prepping for the hands-on drill.
