SHELL LAKE – It was finally sunny, if a bit windy, for the annual Governor’s Fishing Opener Saturday, May 7, held for the first time on Shell Lake.
Many anglers were out before dawn, with lots of success. Gov. Tony Evers was out early, according to community members (he had to leave early for a funeral), after attending the banquet Friday night at the Shell Lake Arts Center. He caught a couple of fish.
