It was the Spooner Police Department against the Spooner Fire Department in softball on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 22. And while the Fire Department won on the field 25-12, local charities were the big winners.

The Spooner Fire Department was raising money for summer camp for burn-injured youths. With the on-field victory, they won the proceeds of the game, $500, as well as donations from various profits.

The Spooner Police Department raised money to supply the Spooner School District with Healthful Living products to provide under-privileged students the supplies they need, such as deodorant, shampoo/conditioner, and more. With raffle donations from the game, they will be able to contribute as well.
