U.S. Department of Agriculture Wildlife Services verified a threat to human health and safety on October 21 on privately owned property in the town of Oulu, Bayfield County.
A single wolf was exhibiting little fear of humans by going in close proximity to an individual who was attempting to protect livestock. The Department of Natural Resources and USDA-Wildlife Services will continue to closely monitor the situation, they said.
The USDA- Wildlife Services also verified a damage threat to the livestock and pets at the residence.
Conflicts with wolves in Northern Wisconsin should be reported to USDA-Wildlife Services, 800.228.1368. The DNR partners with USDA-Wildlife Services to verify and manage wolf conflicts.
