SPOONER– A benefit will be held on Saturday, Jan. 27, at the Spooner Civic Center from 3 to 8 p.m. for Scott Greenfield. “Scramble Fore Scott” will raise funds to help him and his family battle his Stage 4 Colorectal Cancer.
In 2006, Scott, at the young age of 37, was diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer. Following surgery to resect his colon and lymph nodes, and chemotherapy for six months, he was deemed cancer-free. For 11 years, he attended multiple “routine” check ups and had CT scans and bloodwork which always came back normal. Life was good! Sadly, over the past few months, starting in September, Scott became ill once again virtually out of nowhere.
It was confirmed in October that he had an enormous and inoperable cancerous tumor taking over half of the size of his liver, with cancerous nodules also in his lungs. The very same colorectal cancer that he had in 2006, now metastasized on a massive scale, to what’s now Stage 4 Colorectal Cancer.
Scott is only 48 years old, with a 13-year-old daughter, Sydney, and a wife of 15 years, Amy. He recently began chemotherapy treatments to address both the lung cancer and shrink the liver tumor to prolong his health and life.
He has been unable to work since becoming ill recently. He had been a full-time employee at T & T Tool, Inc for the past seven years.
Scott previously worked as the Golf Course superintendent at Spooner Golf Club, which is what originally brought Scott to Spooner from his home in South Dakota in 1998. Spooner has been Scott’s home since then, a home which he now shares with Amy and Sydney, his in-laws, Steve and Barb Sundeen, and many friends and extended family.
All money raised at the January 27 benefit will go towards helping Scott and his family with medical bills and expenses. Scramble Fore Scott will be an exciting, family friendly event including drawings, silent auction items, and mini golf-themed games for prizes. There will be a cash bar and dinner for purchase.
