SPOONER– Washburn and Barron county residents with dementia are invited to a special fishing event planned just for them. “Reelin’ in New Memories: A Fishing Outing” will take place on Wednesday, June 19, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Waterfront Park, Hatchery Street, across from Tony’s Riverside.
The event will be presented by the Aging & Disability Resource Center, Friends Into Spooner Hatchery (F.I.S.H.), and Faith in Action.
Fishing equipment will be provided. Each participant will be paired with a local volunteer angler who will offer support and guidance as needed.
No fishing license is needed for the event.
A lunch of fish and potatoes will be provided for those participating.
“Bring a photo of your most famous ‘catch’ if you have one. Make new friends as you reminisce about old times,” the organizers said.
Attendance is free for this event, but space is limited and registration is required.
