SIREN– Are you interested in making the life of even just one child a little better? Have you ever wondered if helping just one child really does makes any difference?
Those who have, said Siren Covenant Church, are invited to the Operation Christmas Child Kickoff event at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 13.
Siren Covenant is the official OCC drop-off location for Burnett, Washburn, and Sawyer counties as well as the northern portions of Polk, Barron, and Rusk counties.
Every year millions of children around the world receive a Christmas gift – sometimes the first gift they have ever received in their life – through Operation Christmas Child.
Several thousand of the boxes are filled by the people of Northwest Wisconsin who give of their time and resources to provide toys, personal hygiene items, and school supplies. Each shoebox also contains materials to introduce children to the hope found in Jesus Christ.
This year’s kick-off includes a presentation by Serena Butler, OCC regional manager, who travelled to Togo, West Africa, to be part of a shoebox distribution and follow-up ministry.
The evening will include dinner, prayer, and the opportunity to collect some items to begin filling shoeboxes.
In addition, Siren Covenant Church will be recognized for serving 10 years as a drop-off location.
This year’s National Collection Week is November 18-25.
