Letter Carriers Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive (2014)

Letter carriers at the Stone Lake Post Office collected 750 pounds of food during the annual Letter Carriers Stamp Out Hunger food drive May 10.

The Spooner Letter Carriers have announced that Food Drive this year's "Stamp Out Hunger" Food Drive will be held on Saturday, May 13.

"Stamp Out Hunger" is the nation's largest one-day food drive. As in the past, all Washburn County post offices will participate in the drive.

“We ask that you place a bag of non-perishable food in or beside your mail box,” the organizers said. “Your letter carrier or another volunteer will pick up the food and transport it to the food pantry. We ask that you pay particular attention to the expiration date on your donations. If it is expired, the food pantry cannot use it.

“Suggested donations are canned meats, soups and vegetables, peanut butter and canned fruits. We will also be able to accept personal care items such as toothbrushes, shampoo, and soap. Please make sure your donations are not in glass jars.

“The week of the food drive, you will receive a post card reminder and plastic bag for donations.

“With a little bit of help from you, we can Stamp Out Hunger in our neighborhoods,” the letter carriers said.
