DANBURY– The magic of Christmas, with a heavy dose of history, will arrive at Forts Folle Avoine Historical Park near Danbury on Saturday, Dec. 7, with the annual Christmas at the Forts.
Christmas at the Forts will also take place on Sunday, Dec. 8, and then again on Saturday, Dec. 14. Hours for all three days will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Celebrate Christmas with a wide variety of events, including …
> Horse-drawn Sleigh Rides.
> A North Pole Visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus.
> Live Holiday Music performed by local musicians.
> Native American storytelling by Angelique.
> Affordable shopping and activities for children-only at the Elves’ Store.
Warm up outside with cocoa, a hot dog, and popcorn. Or warm up inside with home-cooked wild rice soup or chili.
Take care of that nice or naughty person on your list with a unique present from the Forts Folle Avoine gift shop.
You can also help support the Fort by bidding on a wide selection of items at the Silent Auction the first weekend only. Bidding for the Silent Auction closes on Sunday, Dec. 8 at 2 p.m. Be sure to get there early to make your bids!
The Historical Park is located near Danbury on 80 beautiful wooded acres along the historic Yellow River.
This is a living history site with two Fur Trade Posts – North West Company and XY Company, reconstructed on the site known to be active from 1802 to 1805.
An Ojibwe Village offers insight into Ojibwe life during the time of the fur trade.
Several museums, including a logging museum and one-room schoolhouse, showcase other aspects of Wisconsin and Burnett County history.
Forts Folle Avoine Historical Park is on the National Register of Historic Places.
It is run by the Burnett County Historical Society. BCHS is a member of the Wisconsin Historical Society.
