Sawyer County Sheriff Doug Mrotek announced Thursday afternoon May 12 that the sheriff’s office is forwarding charges to the Sawyer County district attorney’s office of first-degree intentional homicide against a Bemidji Minnesota man, Manly M. McDermott, 29, in the gunshot death of 42-year-old Cary Lynne Elkin of Stone Lake April 2,2021.
At 12:26 a.m. Friday, April 2, 2021, deputies from the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on Hungry Lake Lane in the Town of Sand Lake for a call of a deceased female. Upon arrival, deputies discovered the body of Cary Lynne Elkin, 42, deceased in the residence from multiple gunshot wounds.
