...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM THIS EVENING
TO 7 AM CDT SATURDAY...
* WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations in Price
County of 7 to 12 inches and Sawyer County of 4 to 7 inches.
Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.
* WHERE...Sawyer and Price Counties. This includes the Tribal
Lands of the Lac Courte Oreilles Reservation.
* WHEN...From 7 PM this evening to 7 AM CDT Saturday.
* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. Patchy blowing snow
could significantly reduce visibility. Gusty winds and the heavy
snowfall could bring down tree branches.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snowfall rates of one inch per hour are
expected in eastern Sawyer County late tonight. Higher snowfall
rates up to two inches per hour are possible in central and
southern Price County late tonight as well.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency.

A 42-year-old man whose name has been withheld by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and the Bayfield County Sheriff’s Office was killed Saturday in a snowmobile crash near Cable.
DNR Warden Robin Miller said the man was one of a group of snowmobile riders on Trail 15 near Telemark Road. She said the man failed to negotiate a curve in the trail and struck several trees.
