Hayward United Wolfpack men’s soccer team lost their second game of the year, 4-3, to Hibbing United FC of the Duluth Amateur Soccer League on Sunday, May 12.
Hibbing scored two quick goals to start off the game, and Hayward answered with a goal by Siji Gonzalez in the 19th minute.
After halftime, the Wolfpack tied the game on a penalty kick, converted by Mualigbe Keita in the 67th minute. Hibbing United scored two goals in the 75th and 84th minute, but Owen Quast responded for the Wolfpack with a goal of his own, slotting the ball into the lower-right corner in the 86th minute.
Hayward United dominated the possession throughout the game, outshooting Hibbing 11-6, but couldn’t pull off the win.
Hayward only had 13 players available to travel for the game, but will look to start fresh next weekend, with college finals finishing up. They will travel to Duluth again on Sunday, May 19, to take on Team Evil at noon and Portside FC at 6 p.m. at Stowe Elementary School.
