The Hayward United Wolfpack men’s soccer team lost 3-2 against the current WPASL second place team, St. Croix Valley, in a nail biter on Sunday, June 23.

The Wolfpack dominated the first half, and opened the scoring in the 11th minute on a perfectly placed penalty kick goal by Confidence Idim.

The score was 1-0 at half, but St. Croix came out hot in the second half, scoring a penalty kick goal in the 47th minute, and capitalizing on another chance in the 56th minute.

The Wolfpack rebounded in the 72nd minute, when Ethan Wolfe back-heel flicked the ball into the bottom corner, with Idim assisting on the play.

The tie was broken in the 80th minute when St. Croix’s league-leading scorer capitalized on a breakaway chance, cementing the 3-2 loss for Hayward.

Cole Bergman finished with four saves on the night and the Wolfpack were outshot 7-6.
