A pastor and former teacher in Wisconsin and Oregon who once served a church near Stone Lake in Sawyer County, Jeffrey A. Vesta, was arrested at his residence in Spooner Tuesday, June 4, for suspected possession of child pornography, according to a news release from the Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.
Vesta, 64, was a pastor in Wisconsin and Oregon. He formerly served as pastor at the Wayside Chapel in the town of Edgewater in Sawyer County.
On June 4, law enforcement executed a search warrant on Vesta’s residence and took him into custody. Vesta was booked in the Washburn County Jail on June 4 and attended a bail hearing on June 5 in Washburn County. Vesta was released on a signature bond.
Vesta’s initial appearance will be held at 10 a.m. June 17 at the Washburn County Courthouse.
