The traditional nine-day rifle hunting season for whitetail deer opens Saturday, Nov. 21, throughout Wisconsin. Among the orange-coated hunters thronging to the woods and fields will be those anxious to get outdoors during a COVID-19 pandemic and those seeking to hunt the “big woods” public lands of northern Wisconsin.

“Our 2020 gun deer season is setting up to be a good one,” said Joshua Spiegel, Department of Natural Resources (DNR) wildlife biologist for Sawyer County.
