In a 11-1 vote, Sawyer County Board of Supervisors approved a Carbon Marketing and Development Agreement with Anew Carbon Development LLC that could ultimately bring over $1 million a year to the county.

Trees convert carbon dioxide in the air to oxygen via photosynthesis and also store the carbon. A carbon credit market encourages keeping that carbon in the tree versus being harvested and eventually being released back into the air.
