It’s very difficult these days to sit down with someone of a different political view and ask questions and probe into another’s belief without the conversation ending in a screaming match. But two men who are as different as one can imagine when it comes to politics and life experiences are showing all of us how to have a civil conversation and remain friends.

Todd Haskell, 31, is a conservative Republican who lives and works in Hayward. He’s also a U.S. Army veteran who did two tours — 15 and 12 months — in Afghanistan, and even though he voted for President Barrack Obama twice, the last two elections he was all for Trump.
