Sandra Ann Thomas, 66, of Hayward, died Thursday, Aug. 29, 2019, at her home.
Sandra Ann Lueloff was born Nov. 6, 1952 in Minneapolis, the daughter of Walter Jackson and Lorraine “Waboose” DeNasha Lueloff Sorenson. She attended school in Chicago and after graduation began working at Underwriters Laboratories in Chicago. She met the love of her life, Jerry Thomas, while living in Chicago, and they were married July 24, 1971. Sandy continued working at Underwriters Laboratories until they moved their family to Hayward. Sandy worked for Lac Courte Oreilles Tribal Government for several years, mostly in a clerical capacity. In 1988 she was very proud to have been one of the very first women elected to the LCO Tribal Council, where she worked until retiring the summer of 1992 to take care of her family.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Sr.; son, Jerry Jr.; daughter, Tina Marie Thomas; two grandchildren, Brendan and Nathaniel Thomas; brothers, Leo DeNasha and Robert Sorenson; sisters, Roberta, Donna and Gladdys Lueloff; and several nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Lorraine; her grandparents, and sisters, Jackie and Darlene.
A memorial service was held at noon Tuesday, Sept. 3, at Pineview Funeral Service in Hayward with Pastor Brian Cole officiating. Visitation was held from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday prior to the service at the funeral home.
Honorary casket bearers were Leo DeNasha, Linda Hollen, Kay Hooker Jenkins, Roberta Lueloff and Brendan and Nate Thomas.
