Elena Schmelzer and Alex Mayou were united in marriage on Sept. 30, 2017, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Hayward.
Fr. Gerard Willger officiated the ceremony. Maid of honor was Sam Lindblad of Hayward, and bridesmaids were Alexandria Cull of Slinger and Isabelle Schmelzer and Eva Schmelzer of Hayward. The flower girls were Allainna Siwy and Faith Siwy of Elgin, Illinois. Ring bearer was Sarah Mayou of Hayward.
The best man was John Schmelzer of Madison and groomsmen were James Glodoski of Austin, Texas, Aleks Dierl of Mankato, Minnesota, and Emiliano Morales of Denver.
The music for the ceremony was provided by Kathy Naylor and Dee Lancaster. The reception was held at Lakewoods Resort in Cable.
Elena, the daughter of Bill and Jeanne Schmelzer of Hayward, is a 2011 Hayward High School graduate and the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2015 with a BA in plant biology. She works as a horticulturist at Samara Designs in Madison.
Alex is the son of Pete and Chris Mayou of Hayward. He is a 2012 HHS graduate and is currently enrolled in the MATC civil engineering program. He is employed by JSD Professional Services.
The couple resides in Madison.
