Hayward Squirt 10U and Girls 14U youth hockey teams will be playing in Wisconsin Amateur Hockey Association (WAHA) state tournaments this weekend, March 3-4, after qualifying in regional playdowns.

The Hayward Sports Center will host the Girls 14U state tournament this Saturday and Sunday. The Hayward team will play its first game at 11:30 a.m. Saturday against the Western Wisconsin Stars from the Somerset-New Richmond area.

Other first-round games on Saturday will feature Ozaukee vs. the Blackcats at 8 a.m., Chippewa Valley vs. Green Bay at 9:45 a.m. and Eagle River vs. the DC Diamonds at 1:15 p.m.

Consolation bracket games will be played at 3 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. and championship semifinals will be played at 4:45 and 8:15 p.m. Saturday.

On Sunday, the seventh place game will be at 8 a.m., the consolation championship at 10 a.m., the third place game at noon and the championship game at 2 p.m.

Squirts

The Hayward Squirt A 10U team will play in the state tournament at Sussex in the Milwaukee area. Hayward will play Fox Valley at 10:15 a.m. Saturday. They will play again either in consolation at 2 p.m. or the semifinals at 3:15 p.m.

The seventh place game will be at 9 a.m. Sunday, the consolation championship at 10:30 a.m., the third place game at noon and the championship at 1:30 p.m.

Besides Hayward, other teams in the state tourney are from South Wood County, Fox Valley, Janesville, Kenosha, New Richmond, Blackhawk and Elmbrook (Sussex).

The Hayward Squirt B 10U team will lay in the state tournament at Menomonie, facing DePere in a first-round game at 10:15 a.m. Saturday. Other first-round games will pit Kenosha vs. Washington County, Menomonie vs. Onalaska, and South Wood County vs. McFarland.

Consolation bracket semifinals will be played at 2 and 4:30 p.m. and championship semifinals at 3:15 and 5:45 p.m.

On Sunday, the seventh place game will be at 9 a.m., the consolation championship at 10:30 a.m., the third place game at noon and the championship at 1:30 p.m.

PeeWees

The Hayward PeeWee A 12U team will play in the state tournament at D.C. Everest in Schofield March 10-11.

Hayward will play its first game at 9:45 a.m. Saturday against Fox Valley. Other first-round games will pit Kenosha vs. New Richmond, D.C. Everest vs. Onalaska and Mosinee vs. Oregon.

Consolation bracket semifinals will be played at 3 and 6:30 p.m. and championship bracket semifinals at 4:45 and 8:15 p.m.

On Sunday, the seventh place game will be at 8 a.m., the consolation championship at 10 am., the third place game at noon and the championship at 2 p.m.
