Musicians with the NorthWoods Strings in Hayward will perform a Winter Welcome Concert at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, at Grace Lutheran Church in Hayward, featuring a variety of seasonal numbers.
The concert will include “Linstead Market,” a traditional Jamaican folk song, selections from “The Nutcracker Ballet,” a short symphony and a mysterious composition about Diamond Rock. Also featured will be the “Radetsky March,” a worldwide traditional welcome to the New Year.
“I am so excited about this particular concert,” said local fiddler and teacher Annie Johnson, “since it will be my first after joining the staff of NorthWoods Strings this fall. I am especially eager to hear all the musicians play together on ‘Linstead Market.’”
NorthWoods Strings, a non-profit organization dedicated to building a musical community for children and adults in rural northwestern Wisconsin, believes music has the power to bring people together. Diversity is recognized and valued; everyone is welcome.
In keeping with tradition, there is no admission charge for this concert. For more information about NorthWoods Strings or about giving the gift of violin, viola, cello, or bass lessons this season, visit nwstrings.org or email nwstringsmusic@gmail.com.
