This photo/news clip back in the Feb.26, 1931 “Sawyer County Record” celebrated the world’s larges dirigible, the Akron, being constructed for the US Navy at the Goodyear Zeppelin factory in Akron, Ohio.
This short story ran in the February 25, 1971 edition of the “Sawyer County Record” about 50 fish cribs being staged on Round Lake over winter. They were made of logs and held together with reinforcement rods and then filled with debris and rocks. As the ice melted, they sank to the bottom of the lake to make an attractive habitat for fish.
It was February 1971 that this famous mount of an albino deer was unveiled.
