The Barron County Sheriff's Department is investigating the death of an infant, Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald confirmed on Aug. 20.
The Sheriff's Department issued a press release Aug. 21 stating the department received a call from a residence outside of Haugen reporting that a 10-month-old baby was not breathing.
Sheriff's Department deputies, a Lakeview Medical Center ambulance, Bear Haugen Fire Department and Life Link helicopter were dispatched to the scene, according to the release.
The release states lifesaving measures were attempted, but the baby was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
The Sheriff's Department is being assisted by the Wisconsin State Patrol, Barron County Department of Health and Human Services, the Barron County Medical Examiner's Office and Midwest Medical Examiner's Office.
