A 2-1 victory Thursday over the River Falls Wildcats boosted Rice Lake boys soccer to 2-0 in the Big Rivers Conference and 3-0 overall going into a Saturday nonconference triangular against regional foes Ashland and Amery in Amery. River Falls dropped to 2-2-1 overall and 1-1 in the Big Rivers after defeating Menomonie on Tuesday 5-1.
Down by one goal in the first half, the Warriors kept consistent pressure on the Wildcats defense, ramping it up a notch in the second half. The pressure eventually paid off when Parker Bowman was awarded a direct free kick just outside the penalty box. Bowman converted the kick to a sailing goal to the upper right corner to even up the score, 1-1.
