Preliminary data from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources show license sales, as well as harvest totals, are down from a year ago through the opening weekend of Wisconsin's nine-day gun deer season.

Through Sunday there were about 552,000 gun license sales made, bringing the total number of deer hunters, including bow licenses, to about 795,000, a 1.5% decrease from 2020. Non-resident license sales did increase over last year.
