Thirty years back I left home for the military. In a way the hometown was sort of "frozen — no one getting any older in my mind. After retirement I returned "home" to be caretaker for my parents. I always knew they were involved in their community through various organizations and/or as unofficial service providers. But I didn’t realize how much they were appreciated by folks, something heard often as I run errands around the county.
