A legend has passed away on Friday, November 29, 2019 at the age of 83 at Cambridge Senior Living in Rice Lake, WI.  

Bill was born on September 16, 1936 in Worth, Illinois to Martin and Evelyn (Sydnor) Lode.  Bill attended school at Worth, Illinois and then entered the United States Navy and served in the Korean Conflict and was Honorably Discharged.  

He was married to Janice Boyd in 1960 and they raised their three children, Michell, William Jr. and Daniel in Worth, Illinois.  Bill worked for a trucking company as a driver for many years and later they owned and operated TP Resort in Birchwood for over 20 years; she preceded him in death in 1999.  He was a charming and sweet man and was later married to Vera “Dolly” Williams on February 14, 2011 in Rice Lake.  

Bill enjoyed all sports, going golfing, playing baseball and bowling.  He was very active with the Birchwood American Legion where he was a commander for three years and was also a Mason Zor Shriner.  

He is survived by his wife, Vera “Dolly” Williams of Rice Lake; three children, Michell, William Jr. and Daniel; two step children, Julie Freeland and Jay Williams; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marilyn and Carolyn; many nephews and nieces.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Janice.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 6, 2019 at Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, with Chaplain Lisa Mikula officiating, with interment in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Birchwood, WI where Military Rites will be accorded him by the Birchwood American Legion Post.

Visitation will be held from 1:30-2:00 p.m. Friday at Appleyard’s Home for Funerals.

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to Lakeview Medical Center Hospice Program.

A very special thank you to the entire staff at Cambridge Senior Living for all the love they showed Bill; they are truly a blessing.
