Phyllis Groth, 93, formerly of Spooner, WI, passed away surrounded by her family on Monday, November 4, 2019.

Phyllis was born on November 9, 1925, to John and Anna (Hansen) Cleveland in Martinsburg, Nebraska.  

Her family moved to Rice Lake, WI, in 1935.  She married Lyle L. Groth on November 17, 1941.

An avid outdoor enthusiast, she enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, trapping, and birdwatching.  

Phyllis also enjoyed crafting and needlework.  She always had a project in progress, especially crocheting granny afghans.  A member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Spooner, she was also involved with the Washburn County Unit on Aging and the Spooner Senior Citizen Center.

Phyllis is survived by three children, Laura Groth, Craig (Cindy) Groth, and Chyril (Dennis) Chadwick; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Geraldine (Herbert) Bush; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband Lyle; son, Edward; sisters, Eleanor and Bertha; and brother Roger.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.  Arrangements were entrusted to the Spooner Funeral Home.
