Marie Sorenson, age 85, of Rice Lake, WI died Friday November 29, 2019 at her home.
She was born on October 1, 1934 in Rice Lake to Karl and Mae (Drinken) Zimmerman. Marie graduated from Rice Lake High School in 1952 and in 1954 she was married to Neil Sorenson.
She was a telephone operator for Bell, General and Verizon Telphone Companies in various assignments. She was dedicated volunteer serving Lakeview Medical Center Auxiliary, hands of help, Good Samaritan and hospice. She was a lifelong member of the United Presbyterian Church. Marie and Neil were early members of the Rice Lake Curling Club.
She enjoyed music, fishing, chatting with friends or strangers, traveling with Neil in the United States, Canada and two trips to Europe.
She is survived by her husband, Neil Sorenson; sons, David (Bette) Sorenson and Douglas Sorenson; daughters, Kristi Sorenson and Lynda Lofgren; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Jean Humlicek; brother, Earl (Dee) Zimmerman; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Karl and Mae Zimmerman; son-in-law, John Lofgren; stepsister, Sue (John) Healy; stepbrother, Lee Zimmerman; niece, Becky Zimmerman; sister-in-law, Dorothy Sorenson; brothers-in-law, Lyle Humlicek and Don (Rosalie) Sorenson.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, December 7, 2019 at the United Presbyterian Church in Rice Lake, Rev. Chris McCurdy officiating, with interment in the Nora Cemetery in Rice Lake.
Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
