Ten received diplomas through jail/tech school partnership

Donald Scott, center, is one of 10 to obtain his HSED this week. With him are Barron County Jail Program Director Amanda Poppe and instructor Mike Larson from Northwood Technical College.

Ten students received their High School Equivalency Diploma on March 29 in a joint effort between the Barron County Jail and Northwood Technical College. The program is on track to doubling last year’s total by the end of the spring semester.

Additionally, the partnership is expanding to include Northwood Tech’s CNC Machining program. This grant-funded opportunity allows students to take the first college course of the program which includes: Print Reading Fundamentals, Interpreting Industrial Prints, and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing.
