Bryan Pitts, formerly of Rice Lake, and his wife, Jocelyn, were featured on HGTV's "House Hunters" on Tuesday in an episode called “Old vs. Cold in Chicago” with the following description: "A young family in Chicago is looking for more space. She wants a sleek, modern home they can move into immediately. However, he is looking for a charming, vintage fixer-upper."
With the addition of their daughter, Melia, in 2015 and son, Rylan, last year, the Chicago couple has outgrown their condo they have owned together for the last 13 years.
According to Pitts, the couple had been "searching" for a home since 2015, but because they loved their neighborhood, they overstayed despite being "taken over by toys and other kids stuff." With the arrival of their son last fall, the need for space forced the couple to begin looking in earnest.
Enter House Hunters. "We thought it would be a fun opportunity to document the house search and a fun memory to look back on later as the children get older," said Pitts.
Pitts said the process involved a phone call with the producer followed up with a Skype interview to be seen by the whole House Hunters production team. "Thankfully we were selected to be on the show."
