An adult male was arrested in Illinois after an investigation into the whereabouts of a female juvenile was launched in Rusk County, according to a Rusk County Sheriff's Department press release issued yesterday.
On the morning of Aug. 18, the department received a report that a female juvenile was missing from her residence. It was found the juvenile had been communicating with an adult male on Snapchat, and that she then left with an adult male. It was believed they were en route to Florida, according to the release.
The adult and female were located in Illinois. The female will be transported back to Rusk County, and the male will face charges in Illinois for possession of a loaded firearm in a vehicle, before being brought back to Rusk County to face charges, the release states.
The investigation is ongoing.
The Barron County Sheriff's Office, Wisconsin State Patrol, Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigations, US Department of Justice Criminal Investigations and the Illinois State Police aided in the investigation, according to the release.
