Scattered light rain throughout Saturday morning didn't hamper the annual Children's Safety Fair, put on by the Rice Lake Police Department and Barron County Sunrise Rotary Club, with some events in the Maranatha Church parking lot and many others indoors. Police Chaplain Cody Kargus, who doubled as McGruff the Crime Dog, was pleased with the turnout. "Even though we've had tragic times in the area, it's good to let families see there are agencies that provide safety and protection for the community and to meet them and thank them for their service," he said.
