A Rice Lake man has been charged with the repeated sexual assault of an underage relative.
Authorities say Kyle C. Korthof, 30, sexually assaulted the child over a period of 17 months.
A total of three felonies were filed against Korthof in Barron County Circuit Court on May 29: repeated sexual assault of a child, incest and exposing genitals to a child.
An anonymous report led to an investigation by the Department of Health and Human Services and the Rice Lake Police Department.
The child was interviewed by a forensic children’s interviewer, according to the criminal complaint, while a social worker and Rice Lake police officer were present.
The criminal complaint describes multiple instances of skin to skin sexual contact happening when Korthof and the child were alone.
According to police, Korthof voluntarily came to the Rice Lake Police Department during the investigation and said he had had sexual contact with the child.
He told police he had not had sexual contact with any other children.
Korthof remains in Barron County Jail on a $2,500 cash bond and an initial appearance is scheduled for June 5.
