Conference co-leader River Falls won a Big Rivers baseball doubleheader in Rice Lake on Thursday, 12-3 and 8-4. The Wildcats improved to 8-0 in the conferencce, tied with Chippewa Falls for first place. Rice Lake drops to 0-7 in the Big Rivers.
Rice Lake settled for three hits in the first game, one of those an RBI double by center fielder Riley Strohm.
In the second game, the Warriors fell behind 6-0 before rallying for four runs in the sixth, closing to within 6-4. But River Falls plated a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth for its 8-4 win. For the Warriors, Isaac Rohde, Callub Paulson and Trevon LaPoint had RBI singles.
Rice Lake, 2-8 overall, is in nonconference play this Friday, May 3, at Ellsworth, and Saturday, May 4, at Unity.
