Rice Lake Warrior girls basketball will still be looking for its first win when the Warriors host Eau Claire Memorial on Friday at 7:15 p.m.
Rice Lake lost to Ashland, 50-42, on the home court Tuesday to slip to 0-3 on the young season.
The visiting Oredockers led 17-16 at halftime and then rode senior Mayella Brinker’s 12 second half points to the eight-point win. Brinker finished with 16 points.
Rice Lake got 15 points from Brynn Olson, 11 from Jordan Roethel and 10 from Lexi Orr.
Following Friday’s game, the Warriors are home again next Tuesday, hosting Holmen in a 5:45 p.m. start, before the Rice Lake Warrior boys varsity game vs. Northwestern at about 7:30 p.m.
Last Tuesday before Thanksgiving, the Warriors dropped their Big Rivers conference opener to the visiting Menomonie Mustangs, 51-49.
In the tight game all the way, Menomonie led 23-20 at halftime.
Rice Lake’s balanced scoring saw Roethel leading the way with 16 points, followed by Olson with 11, Jordan Pagac with 10 and Grace Forsberg with eight. Menomonie got 19 points from Shelby Thorton and 14 from Helen Chen.
It was a free throw night for both teams—Menomonie at 3 for 10 and Rice Lake at 3 for 6.
