Two 16-year-olds have been identified as the deceased in a crash Monday on Hwy. 63. Grace Schradle and Michael Magnuson were in a vehicle that collided with a semi tractor-trailer, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office.

Reports of a vehicle vs. semitractor-trailer crash at Hwy. 63 and 60th Avenue in the Town of Clear Lake began coming into the Polk County Sheriff's Office dispatch center at 1:49 p.m. on Sept. 16, according to press release issued by the Sheriff's Office.

According to the release, the semitrailer was traveling northbound on Hwy. 63, and a sedan was traveling eastbound on 60th Avenue, approaching Hwy. 63. A witness told police the sedan slowed but traveled onto Hwy. 63 without stopping for the stop sign. The semitrailer was halfway through the intersection when the sedan impacted the side of the trailer.

The sedan continued into the semi's trailer until the trailer's rear tires impacted the side of the sedan.

The sedan ended up on its roof in Hwy. 63's west ditch. The semi-truck pulled onto the east shoulder of Hwy. 63.

Both occupants of the sedan had suffered fatal injuries at the scene, according to the release.

Assisting the Polk County Sheriff's Office with the crash was Clear Lake Police department, Clear Lake Fire and first responders, Clayton Fire and first responders, Amery area ambulance, Wisconsin State Patrol and the Polk County Medical Examiner's Office, according to the release.

The crash remains under investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol and the Polk County Sheriff's Office.

The Barron County Sheriff's Department indicated Tuesday in a Facebook post that the victims were in the Clayton school community. "We also pass on our prayers to the families, community, school mourning the loss of these two young lives," the post stated.
