The Barron County Board of Supervisors approved two grant applications in a brief meeting Tuesday morning at the Barron County Government Center. One was a Wisconsin Department of Transportation 2018-2022 Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) grant application. The other was an application for 2020 grant funds from the Wisconsin Department of Justice.
After the meeting, Supervisor Andrew Mommsen filed a Notification of Non-Candidacy. He has represented District 18 encompassing Town of Stanley Wards 3 and 4 and City of Rice Lake Ward 13 since April 2008.
Any residents living in District 18 and interested in serving on the County Board can circulate nomination papers with filing due by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 7. Supervisor Jess Miller, who represents District 22 which includes City of Rice Lake wards 4 and 5, filed a Notification of Noncandidacy in November. No one has yet filed for that vacancy.
Any other supervisors considering not serving another 2-year term must file a Notification of Noncandidacy by Dec. 27.
