Superior scored three unearned runs to take a 3-0 lead and hung on for a 4-2 win in nonconference high school softball Tuesday in Rice Lake. With the win, the Spartans improved to 15-1.

Rice Lake scored single runs in the fourth and seventh innings but couldn't avoid its sixth straight loss, dropping the Warriors to 4-9 overall.

Rice Lake hurler Emma VandeVoort took the pitching loss, despite allowing only one earned run. She struck out four and walked four. Winning pitcher Madison Stariha allowed five hits, struck out 12 and walked no one.

It was the sixth game for Rice Lake in 5 days, and the busy stretch continues Tuesday with a doubleheader against visiting Chippewa Falls. The Big Rivers conference twin bill begins at 4 p.m. Rice Lake is 4-4 in the conference.
