The Barron County Fair returns to the fairgrounds at 101 Short St., Rice Lake, Wednesday-Sunday, July 17-21. There’s No Time Like Fair Time is this year’s theme.
Exhibitors are encouraged to bring beef/swine/sheep Tuesday night.
A schedule of events follows:
Wednesday, July 17
8 a.m., entry day for Junior Class crops, sheep, beef, swine and llama; and Open Class crops, flowers, vegetables, fruits.
9 a.m., judging dogs in obedience and showmanship in the dog tent.
10 a.m., judging small animal in the rabbit/poultry building.
Noon: judging cat show in the rabbit/poultry building.
2:30 p.m., opening ceremony.
3 p.m., judging sheep show in the livestock show arena.
5 p.m., judging open fruits and veggies.
6 p.m., judging Open Class herbs, flowers and houseplants in the Horticultural Building.
7 p.m., harness racing, in the Mosaic grandstand. Cost is $5.
Thursday, July 18
Kids Day: Free gate until 4 p.m. for kids ages 15 and under and all rides $1 from 1 p.m. to closing.
8 a.m., Entry Day for dairy, horses, rabbits, goats and poultry; judging Gymkhana Horse Show in the horse arena; judging the hog show in the livestock show arena.
11 a.m., Nick’s Kids Show.
1 p.m., Veggie Races in the Crop Tent.
1 p.m., judging poultry show in the rabbit/poultry building.
2 p.m., Judging beef show in the Livestock Show Arena; and a Nick’s Kid Show.
2:30 p.m., Cookies & Crowns in the Hospitality Building.
4:30 p.m., judging rabbit show in the rabbit/poultry building; and a Sanctioned Pedal Pull.
7 p.m., harness racing at the Mosaic Grandstand; cost is $5.
Friday, July 19
Senior Citizens Day: Admission is $4 for ages 62 or better until 4:00 p.m.
8:45 a.m., judging dairy show in the livestock show arena; judging Showmanship and English horse showing the horse arena.
9 a.m., judging crops in the Crop Tent
11 a.m., Nick’s Kid Show, judging llama show in the Llama Barn and judging goats in the goat barn.
Noon, judging the Pee Wee goat show in the goat barn.
1 p.m., judging Dairy Showmanship in the Livestock Show Arena.
2 p.m.,Nick’s Kid Show.
6:30 p.m., crowning Fairest of the Fair at the Tim Heffernan Memorial Stage.
7 p.m., Rice Bull Riding at the Mosaic Grandstand. Cost is $15 for ages 16 and up; $5 for kids ages 6-15.
Saturday, July 20
8 a.m., judging Western Horse Show in the horse arena.
8:30 a.m., Cops & Robbers 5K.
11 a.m., Nick’s Kids Show
11:30 a.m., luncheon for Junior Livestock Sale Buyers/Sellers Reception at the infield tent.
1:30 p.m., Junior Livestock Sale in the livestock show arena.
2 p.m., Nick’s Kids Show; Pack Goat/Cart Goat.
4 p.m., judging Draft Horse Halter in the livestock show arena.
5 p.m., 4-H graduation at the Tim Heffernan Memorial Stage
7 p.m., Truck & Tractor Pull Extravaganza in the Mosaic Grandstand. Cost is $15 for ages 16 and up, $5 for ages 6-15.
7 p.m., Catholic Mass at the Fairtime Chapel.
Sunday, July 21
10 a.m., ecumenical service at the Fairtime Chapel; Draft Horse Hitch in the Horse Arena.
11 a.m., Nick’s Kid Show and State Fair Dairy Parade in the livestock show arena.
Noon: Little Britches Dairy Show in the livestock show arena.
12:45 p.m.,judging Open Dairy Show in the livestock show arena.
2 p.m., Nick’s Kids Show and Dress-a-Goat.
6 p.m., 4-H raffle drawings at the Expo Building.
6:30 p.m., release of entries.
7 p.m., Gigantic Demo Derby in the Mosaic Grandstand. Cost is $15 for ages 16 and up, $5 for ages 6-15.
Mega-Bands: $40 in advance; $60 at ticket booth. Good for all carnival hours.
Wednesday: Sneak a Peak Wristband Special from 5-10 p.m., $20.
Thursday: Kids’ Day, rides $1 each from 1- 10 p.m.
Friday: Wristband Mania, $25 from 1-11 p.m.
Saturday: Wristband Mania, $25 from 1-11 p.m.
Sunday: Last Blast Wristband, $16 from 1-6 p.m.
