The Sawyer County Sheriff's Office has identified the motorist who was killed in a crash on Highway 40 east of Exeland Friday, Nov. 29. He is William J. Hutchison, 57, of Brookfield, Wisconsin.
At 11:15 a.m. Friday, Nov. 29, the sheriff’s office received a report of a one-vehicle crash on State Highway 40 south of the junction of Highway 48 in the town of Weirgor. Sawyer County deputies and EMS, the State Patrol, state DNR wardens and the Exeland Fire Department responded to the scene.
The investigation indicates that Hutchison was southbound on Hwy. 40 when the vehicle crossed the northbound lane and struck a tree. Preliminary investigations with eyewitness statements indicated that the driver was hunched over the steering wheel, possibly unconscious, before the crash.
Witnesses and first responders attempted to resuscitate the driver, but were unsuccessful.
This incident remains under investigation by the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office, the Wisconsin State Patrol and the Sawyer County coroner’s office.
Fatality on Hwy. E
A 33-year-old resident of Reserve, Bradley A. Wilson, died as the result of a one-vehicle crash on County Highway E near Agency Road in the town of Bass Lake Wednesday, Nov. 27.
Sawyer County Sheriff Douglas Mrotek reported that at 2:53 p.m. Nov. 27, Sawyer County sheriff’s deputies, Lac Courte Oreilles tribal wardens, Sawyer County emergency medical personnel and the LCO and Bass Lake fire departments responded to the cash.
Initial investigation indicates that Wilson was driving a 2006 Dodge Ram pickup southbound on Hwy. E near Agency Road at a high rate of speed, passing another vehicle in a no-passing zone, when he lost control of his vehicle. It left the roadway, struck trees and rolled onto its roof before coming to rest.
Wilson sustained fatal injuries from the crash. He was the only occupant of the vehicle.
The crash remains under investigation by the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office and Sawyer County coroner’s office.
