Hunger is a real problem for man individuals and families in Barron County. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul of Rice Lake is working to fill stomachs and kitchen shelves.
In the past year it served and distributed 414,048 pounds of through its hot meals and food pantry.
Patrons have said “It helps me make it through the month so I don’t have to go hungry” and “You have helped my husband stay alive with his Type 1 Diabetes with having your hot meals.”
This year’s Food for More fundraising campaign will not have a matching donation from Feed My People, so that makes community giving even more important.
“A $25 donation can mean a world of difference for those living in poverty,” said Jayne Stewart, executive director of St. Joseph Conference of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
To give, mail a check to: St. Vincent de Paul, P.O. Box 11, Rice Lake, WI 54868.
“We thank you for your gift of caring,” Stewart said. “We truly could not do the works we do without you.”
