It was sunny and a balmy 15˚ above zero on Saturday, Feb. 27, at noon for the annual chicken fly, the most popular event at Ridgeland's Pioneer Day. The crowd was not as large as some years, and nobody held protest signs, which made for a good time. In addition to those lucky ducks who caught chickens, there was also a greased pig contest and a much smaller than usual horse parade, treasure hunt for children and crosscut sawing contest for adults.
