The Rice Lake Fortnightly Club honored Laurel Wagner as Senior Girl honoree on April 27. The daughter of Karen and Bill Wagner, she excels in academics and is involved in several school clubs, sports and the community.
She has received many academic and outstanding awards, as well as induction into the National Honor Society her junior year, in which she is now an officer. She has been active in Jazz Choir, theater, forensics, Future Business Leaders of America, Catharsis, Math Team, Chamber Choir, and Solo/Ensemble competitions.
In sports, Wagner has been a member of the golf team all four years, serving as captain. She received the Warrior Award from her golf coach, her junior and senior year based on sportsmanship, character, and commitment/dedication to the golf team. She also earned high honors from the Golf Coaches Association of Wisconsin as an Academic All-State Honoree her senior year.
Wagner’s community service and activities include Turtleback Junior Golf Camp, St. Joseph’s School Basketball Summer Camp volunteer, annual Forest Run volunteer, Red Barn Theatre, Bethany Lutheran’s Community Christmas Choir and neighborly lawn/yard care. She has been employed at Cosmetology Professional Speaking and Cookin’ Up a Storm.
Following high school graduation, Wagner plans to earn a degree in the STEM field and also Spanish. She plans to attend the Milwaukee School of Engineering.
